The belly at 27 weeks

Just a quick update before we take off for Fiji.  It has been a busy week and we are very ready for a week in paradise.  Anna and Derik have a wedding website set up and it has been fun to see their pictures and read about their adventures from afar.  It has also been a little painful when you know you have to go to work the next day and there are still days to go before we arrive in Fiji.  That day is finally here and we board the plane at 5:15 pm today.

My stomach continues to grow and the new experience this week is that it is running into things.  Also, my belly button is almost fully and “outie” now so it is the point of my body that extends the furthest in front so often it takes the brunt of a collision.  Turns out after thirty-one+ years of being an “innie”, it is a sensitive little guy.  Another transition this week is that after two attempts that ended after two miles, I am throwing in the towel on running and am sticking to the elliptical machine mostly but also need start walking and probably swimming more.  My goal had been to run until the third trimester and until we went to Fiji so I guess I accomplished this.  It is just not fun anymore so, on to other things.

I eluded to the final transition.  At 27 weeks, I am entering into the third trimester.  Wahoo!  Supposedly I should start getting bigger (duh!), more emotional, more tired, and so on as my body prepares for birth.  Scary!  We are signed up for a few classes including “Baby Care Basics”, “Child Birth” and “Breast Feeding.”  We have A LOT to learn since if everything goes as expected, it will only be 13 weeks until we have a little baby girl.  Wow, that is soon.  It kind of just dawned on me.

Well, we are off to Fiji.  For updates while we are gone, check out facebook or Anna and Derik’s wedding site.  Otherwise, I will post a full report when we return.
