Tami is actually the teacher of the hypnobirthing® class at St. Lukes which Christi had also recommended. When I looked into the class prior to hiring Tami, I was intrigued but thought it was too expensive for just another childbirthing class.

After probably 20-30 minutes of more self-assessment, I decided two things.

1) The baby had grown and now had the ability to dig her arm or leg or something into my hip, therefore I could no longer sleep on my preferred right side.

2) I had gas, presumably from the broccoli and it was trapped somewhere under the baby causing much more pain than should be possible from gas. I couldn’t smell anything because like most nights since I have been pregnant, my sinuses were completely plugged up, but Andy confirmed that fermented broccoli was definitely lingering in the air as I worked to relieve the pain/pressure. Fun times, eh?!?

In all honesty, there is nothing too exciting to report. I continue to grow…we are a week closer to having the baby, we continue to be excited. Andy’s birthday is today so last night we had his parents and sister Erin as well as my parents, sister and Derik over for cookies and ice cream. Andy typically prefers low-key birthdays so that is what he had. At one point during the reserved festivities, I looked around the room and felt so incredibly fortunate as our families are really close and get along so well and it is a true joy to get everyone together.

I am a little sensitive to the pregnancy brain (pb) thing. Probably the two things you could say to me right now that would offend me are, “wow, you are huge” and “gosh, you really have the pregnancy brain, doncha?” (we are sensitive about the things that have some truth) I have been proactively fighting the pregnancy brain since the first trimester. I play Scrabble and Sudoku on my iPhone to make sure I am using my brain and keeping it sharp. I have also been trying to read at night more so than watching television. I really thought that I had fought off the pb until we were at dinner last Saturday night and the topic came up for discussion with some friends of ours we had had over for dinner who had recently had a baby.
