I have mentioned numerous times how awesome Andy has been throughout the entire pregnancy.  He makes me dinner, does the dishes, takes out the trash and pretty much is supportive in every possible way he can be.  While he is always awesome, this weekend he kicked the awesomeness into turbo gear.  Saturday he painted a wicker table white for the nursery and then ran a set of very undesirable errands including exchanging stuff at Babies R Us on Eagle and Fairview (aka “hell on a Saturday”) and he went to two baby boutiques with me on 8th Street where I had to exchange a size on the fabulous baby carrier that Anna and Erin bought us (and then of course do a little shopping as well…who can resist pink patent leather baby shoes with a bow?)

Then on Sunday, after finishing painting the table, meeting with the doula which entailed learning a new relaxation exercise to rub my stomach using lotion/oil (heaven for me, but not exactly fun for him), he went to town assembling all of the new baby gear including the Pack and Play, stroller, Baby Bjorn and swing (did I mention babies need a lot of BIG stuff?) I came back from a hike with my sister and found him in the nursery putting on the Baby Bjorn with my old cabbage patch doll as the test subject.  It was so cute.  He also installed the two car seat bases in each of our cars so we can get them inspected by the hospital or fire station.  I know he was proud when at the hospital tour tonight, they asked if anyone had installed their car seats yet and we were the only ones. As the title says, nesting is not just for Mama Bird.  Daddy is also getting the nest tidy so baby will come soon.

My parents came over later Sunday evening to bring curtains that my mom had made for the nursery and a rototiller for us to borrow for our soon-to-be garden.  They were amazed (as are we) at the high-tech nature of all of the baby stuff.  I think that many things will be a lot easier due to the modern day technology employed by today’s baby gadgets, toys, entertainment and transportation mechanisms.  We discussed it over “Superb Sushi” (which it really is) and chocolate.
