I have wanted to clean my windows since last fall. Since I was pregnant, Andy wouldn’t allow me to get on a ladder and he was probably right. The dirty windows have grated on me a little bit each day since then. At one point, I tried to bribe my dad with a chocolate cake to get him to clean them for me. He was game but ultimately had too many chores at his house so I felt bad pushing it. My mom was going to clean them for me during our week with Belén but we ran out of time as we quickly realized that it was barely possible to feed ourselves and make dinner in a single day while taking care of a newborn. Andy really doesn’t care about dirty windows and was already doing so many other things around the house that I didn’t push it with him either. I thought of hiring a service to clean them but knew it would cost way more money than what I was prepared to spend. So each day, I lived with my filthy windows and tried not to let it bother me.

Today after months and months I was finally able to clean my windows and I cannot begin to express how gratifying it was. Andy’s sister Chrissy came over around noon and spent the afternoon with Belén while I made myself lunch and spent a good four hours cleaning the inside and outside of all of the windows in the house (I am slow!) I am so thrilled about my clean windows that I am devoting an entire blog post to it. The closet reorganization with the exit of maternity clothes was barely mentioned yet clean windows gets an entire post…this is how serious I am.
I think it was also very satisfying to have a few hours to myself, accomplishing something and doing some manual labor. I sort of reveled in it…strange huh?
Anyway, if you drive by my house in the next few days, I hope the shine from my glamorous windows doesn’t blind you.
Say, both Chrissy and Anna told me about a new Windex outdoor washing solution they saw ads for. If anyone has tried this, I would love to hear a review. Otherwise, I plan to try it for the next round of window washing (probably a year from now) and will report back.
