We did it.  We tried introducing solid foods.  It wasn’t what I would call a success the first time around, but we gave it a go.

Andy bought this rice cereal at the grocery store.  My only specification was that it is not Gerber and ideally organic.  I think I mentioned, I morally disagree with Nestlé’s use of child labor in their cocoa fields and their pushing of formula to women in third world countries who should be breastfeeding if at all possible (and Nestlé owns the Gerber brand.)

So, we mixed a wee bit of this cereal with some breastmilk left over from school on Thursday and came up with what I would call a pasty consistency.

Belén looked cute in one of her many baby shower bibs that we have not used yet.

We loaded up some “food” in the spoon and offered it to her.

She wasn’t real sure of this new foreign, non-breastmilk thing in her mouth.  Her response was that of interest followed by the desire to spit it out.  Good thing for the bib.  Even though she consumed very little of what we fed her, she still managed to get a whole lot of it on her face.  Before we were able to clean her up, I started calling her the bearded lady.
