Eight-Minute Toning Circa 1994

Good news on the workout front.  I seem to have a lot more energy these days (that 6-month mark was magical!) which has translated into more and better workouts.  The only roadblock I seem to have now is that I don’t feel quite motivated enough to pump which is required before going to workout.  I am thinking I might try and make more use of my lunch hours for workouts as there are a couple of guys from work who typically run a few days a week.

This week I swam Monday and Wednesday at lunch and did a good hard hill run with a couple of ladies Tuesday morning.  Thursday and Friday are Andy’s morning workout days but he decided to sleep in and at 5:30am said, “you can go instead.”  That is when I thought about pumping and the fact that Belén has been sleeping until 7am and thought,’ “naaa.” So Thursday went to the Workoutless Gods but this morning I was determined to do something because I really felt quite awake.  Not awake and motivated enough pump, but motivated.

So I decided to jump out of bed, go get the chicky who was singing from the crib, which is how she lets us know she is awake, and then provide her with breakfast.  Afterwards, I got her dressed and grabbed some toys for her to play with while I logged into the Mac for some 8-minute action.

I started with the “8 minute abs” which I have discussed on this blog before.  It is a great core workout.

Since I was probably not going to get to cardio during the day, I decided to extend my workout with a couple other “8 minute” workouts.  Next up was “8 minute buns.”

Followed by “8 minute arms.”  They change up the outfits in this one.  You gotta love the jailbird manitard (What would be the correct name for the male unitard?) in this one.

If you can get past the 90s fashion, cheesy music and the excessive use of the word “gang”, they really are pretty decent FREE strength training workouts you can do from home.  Twenty four minutes later, I felt more toned and ready for the day.
