Brunch at the G-rents

It is sort of becoming a tradition that we meet my parents for brunch on Sunday mornings.  Andy and I have a standing bet about what time they will call to see if we want to do breakfast.  We actually didn’t see my parents much over this past week so it was no surprise that my mother left a message yesterday to see if we could get together for breakfast/brunch today.  We agreed and planned on going to their house rather than a restaurant like we typically do.

It was a nice morning at their intercity “farm” as the frost had blanketed the entirity of their property.

Sassy (our dog) was thrilled that we went to “grandma and grandpa’s” instead of a restaurant because she was able to come along as well.  We folded up a portion of the backseat in the new truck and she was able to ride back there and keep Belén company.

And she was also able to hang with her antisocial counterpart and biological brother, Beau, my parent’s dog.

Belén was able to spend lots of time with her Auntie Anna and both of her grandparents, but mostly grandpa because my mom is still fighting a cold, so she tried not to touch her too much.

Grandpa showed her how binoculars work.

These are so interesting! I am going to eat them! These are so interesting! I am going to eat them!

She also had her ribs eaten many times by Auntie Anna.

Finally, we retired to the basement to check out the new antique slot machine and check in on Belén’s attempts to crawl.  She is getting so close…she just needs to engage her arms in a forward motion rather than faceplanting and becoming pissed.

It is back to work tomorrow after two wonderful, relaxing weeks off.  After so much concentrated time with the family, I feel a little like I did after my maternity leave in that I am going to hate to take Belén to school tomorrow…  Luckily another part of me is excited to jump back in and be more productive again and take on all of the challenges I have ahead of me in 2010.   It will be nice having a bit of a fresh start tomorrow.  I know Andy feels the same way.

Are you looking forward to going back to work tomorrow or would you prefer more holiday season / time off?

Cheers!

I’m sure grandpa wasn’t sad at all that he got to play with Belen all day.

I was dreading coming back to work today but it’s actually been quite refreshing to be part of society again. We’ll see what I’m saying by the end of the week.
