This is old news but it was new to me and entertaining enough that I wanted to share in case you missed it as well.
Saturday morning, I was driving home from my run and post run coffee/breakfast with Anna and Erin listening to NPR. One of my very favorite programs, “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me” was on. This is not a show I liked the first time I heard it, but each time since, it has grown on me and now I absolutely love it.
In this particular program, they were talking about things that happened in 2009 and the following question came up, “What did the country of Afghanistan quarantine when the swine flu became epidemic?”
The humorous, obvious answer was their pigs. But the answer was incorrect because pigs should not be plural. It was their single pig.
Yup, apparently the country of Afghanistan, being devoutly Muslim has a single pig in the entire country. It is in the zoo in Kabul….and they quarantined it.
I found this to be so interesting. Especially after living in China for nearly two years where the government has a pork reserve like the US has an oil reserve. It is probably a good thing that so many religions are anti-pork because there may be a massive pork deficit if not.
He he, you know what just popped into my head as I typed that…pork deficit, sounds like a topic of conversation amongst a group of old married men.

It is so funny that you mentioned this, because I heard the same thing after leaving our coffee and almost called you to talk about it, but I didn’t… This cracked me up..
