You have to know about Etsy, right? Their slogan is “a place to buy and sell all things homemade.” I have mentioned my friend Sara’s Sarandipity Sweets shop in previous posts. She makes the cupcake pops that are TO DIE FOR!
It is the coolest concept. There are SO MANY people who are crafty and can make super cool homemade things (I am not one of those people) and this provides an online marketplace for such goods.
Do you want to know another huge advantage to etsy? It prevents one from having to go to bazaars. Which brings me to the point of today’s post.
My mom LOVES holiday bazaars. In at least three of the Saturdays and Sundays preceding Christmas, she would call and ask if I wanted to go “bazaaring” with her. My response was to immediately start scrolling through my head for excuses why I could not go…hair needs washed, baby nails need trimmed, sofa needs to be broken in…you get the picture. She was so giddy about her bazaars that she did not even become offended at my lame excuses as to why I could not go with her.
I bet you can guess what happened next. Yup, when she would come by my house afterwards to show me her loot, it was all baby-related and I actually found myself wanting it. Wanting it, but not wanting it bad enough that I was going to leave my perfectly comfortable home to drive to some church in Melba to buy it. This is where etsy comes in.
This past weekend, my mom gave me some hair barrettes purchased at said bizarres for Belén and I LOVE them. They are PERFECT because they stay in fine, short baby hair that has not grown in yet. They allow Belén to show her feminine side without having a full on headband squeezing her noggin. Andy even likes them because he thinks the headbands seem constricting and he has a special place in his heart for fellow people with big heads, especially his daughter.

And they are from the etsy store, Lovely Little Lovelies, so I can order more (except they seem to be out of product right now…maybe from the Christmas rush).
Writing this post is inspiring me to shop at etsy more often. The front page alone has eight things I would gladly purchase. It is incredible the number of stores within etsy. Dang, I wish I had thought of that business idea!

I LOVE Etsy. I actually shop there once a week at least. I have 3 things on the way from them currently

I have a soft spot in my heart for large heads too! (I’ll personally attest to headband ouchies.)
But, a huuuuuge THANK YOU for my shout out. You are too sweet!!!

So I went to Etsy for the first time after reading your blog.. It does have a lot of really cool things.. Why didn’t we think of that… Darn it… While I was there, I saw these pop walls.. Which I thought were very interesting.. One of the designs reminded me of Belen’s nursery and made me think it may be something you can do in her room as she grows up.. Check it out. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=37490781

That is awesome! I thought the horse was a giraffe though. I added that to Belen’s wish list. Do you think it would match with my yet-to-find gigantic hot-pink rick rack for her big girl room (someday)? Probably not… It would be cute in a play room if we had such a thing. Ooh, maybe Andy’s office could become the playroom.
Etsy rocks, eh?

I recently ordered the cutest little Tooth Fairy Pillow from Etsy! I can’t wait to get it (although Keira’s first tooth came out on New Year’s Eve, obviously before we got the pillow).
