Belén now has FOUR teeth that have broken through her gums. The bottom two are almost fully up while the two on top have just recently broken through. She is already realizing how to use them to bite and chew food. Because of this and the fact that we want her to be able to feed herself, we have started giving her more finger foods. Here are some pictures with her adventures with peas last week.

This is why we LOVE the Bjorn bib.

Now that she is nearly nine months old almost all food with the exception of milk, honey, eggs and nuts are viable feeding options. We have not explored most of the non-vegetable/fruit options but intend to start doing so. Sunday night we were at Highland Hollow with my parents and we decided to let her try a mushy fry and bite off pieces of a saltine cracker. It was a full-blown feeding adventure. We even dipped the partial fry in catchup. Monday we gave her ground beef for the first time. It seems a little cliché that we start branching out with fries and burger.
Welcome to American eating culture, Belén. The best is yet to come.

Aww, so cute! And yes, those bibs are very necessary at that stage!
