Awhile back, Anna and I spent a Sunday afternoon at the mall looking for new moisturizer.  This of course led into searching for new face wash, then makeup, then my discovery that the mall does have my favorite make up, Bobbi Brown!  There is a kiosk inside Macy’s that must have been installed while we were living in China because I had never seen it.  My sister pointed this out to me when I said I would need to go online to buy what I was looking for.  What a discovery!

As we were leaving Macy’s, being the shoe diva she is, Anna talked me into shopping the shoe department’s sale before exiting the mall.  A very unlikely thing occurred and she did not buy any shoes and I bought THREE pairs.  I tried really really hard not to buy clogs and even asked the sales lady if the purple J-41 pair I really liked were clogs.  She looked at me strangely and in her Croatian accent (all of the shoe salespeople at the mall are Eastern European for some reason) said, “Uuum, not exactly.  I mean you could consider them clogs because they slip on.”

I quickly replied, “Oh no, I don’t want them to be clogs.  I am trying really hard to not purchase clogs.”  It was now apparent she found me to be really odd.

Anna quickly chimed in that they were psudo-clogs, not letting me take non-clog credit for the most comfortable of the bunch.  I eventually decided to purchase all three pairs since the prices were right!

And them other shoes ain’t no clogs!  As you can see, I purchased my first pair of “gladiator heels” which were definitely in style last season but probably (because they were so steeply discounted – less than $20, originally $85!) are out of style now that I have finally bought a pair.  But hey, it’s Boise, I can get away with it.  The black boots are also definitely not clogs and make me feel like I am about six feet tall.  The world looks different from that vantage point.

The real question and the one Andy immediately asked when I showed him what I bought is, “Can you walk in those?”

So ya, I can walk in them, more or less.  I wore the black boots one day at work and they looked awesome with my dressy black pants that clogs just don’t work with.  Unfortunately, I had to do a bit more walking than I would have liked and by the end of the day, when Andy called and asked me if I could stop by the store on the way home and buy tortillas, I actually winced because I knew I would have to walk that much further in them.  I survived and it was fine, but now do you see why I typically purchase Danskos?  I can walk miles in them and never have my feet hurt!

As a side note, every time cute shoes hurt my feet, I always think of one of the Sex and the City episodes where Carrie is walking blocks home in teeny tiny, cute high heels saying, “I love these shoes but they pinch my feet.”

Seriously though, I enjoy having some non-clogs and am especially excited to try out the gladiator sandals once the weather cooperates.  I even look forward to the look Andy is going to give me each time I wear them…and I may even get a, “Why do you do that to yourself honey?”  Do any of you get that question?

You know that I wear non-clog/non-comfy shoes about 90% of the time. I don’t know why I do that to myself, I just do. Love your new shoes!!! LOL on the wincing to go the to store after work because your feet hurt, I have been there many a times!

And I read you post just below this on down-playing yourself, I definitely think it’s a female thing (more-so). We should work on that on Friday’s…upselling therapy!

I am still very proud of your purchases.. but I still say the purple ones are clogesk but they are maid by Jeep so they get my seal of approval..

I agree, it is fun being tall some times….There is a whole other vantage point from up there, then I kinda know how it is to be Derik, but even in my highest heals I am still about 6″ shorter then him still… Dang it..

The ridiculous part is the purple ones are really quite uncomfortable. The saleswoman lied!
