Rather than continuing to focus on sickness and all that goes along with it, I am choosing to relive last weekend when we where happy and more-or-less healthy.

Mid-February is the time of year when parents with babies and young kids too young to ski or go sledding catch cabin fever. Unfortunately, the Hoobing Family is not exempt from this phenomena and the President’s Day three-day weekend was a excuse to get out of town and visit our friends in McCall.
I did my long run (2o miles, 3:20) on Friday morning in preparation for being out of town and then left work before 4pm in an attempt to be on the road before 5pm. We would have met our goal except for a needed stop at the Wendy’s drive-thru to help replenish the 2000 extra calories I had burned early that morning.
Belén was not very happy on the drive to McCall, especially over portions of the road with the most elevation gains, possibly due to the ear infection we were not yet aware she had. The minute we arrived, we were welcomed by the entire V. family and soon after had sat down to an amazing home cooked meal.
The following day and half was filled with catching up with friends,

getting to known children who have grown up SO much,

eating WAY too much AMAZING food,

a trip to the hot springs (Belén is in her bear suit warming up from the cold, after getting out of the warm water),

horse back riding,

sleeping in and waking up to baby giggles,

and a whole lot of fun!
Spending time with good friends in a relaxing environment was just what we needed! We so appreciate our wonderful friends and hosts for the weekend! I think now we will be able to make it till our vacations this spring and summer.
