I really don’t care to talk about sickness anymore, but our lives seem to be revolving around it right now.
The best we can figure, Belén has had and kicked a stomach virus. Unfortunately a slew of other things linger on including a now, rip roaring double ear infection that has been resistant to two different antibiotics. She received a third through a shot in her leg today so we are hoping that helps. Her fever, from the ear infections came back on Friday night so that is still on her list of symptoms and is currently being treated by Infant Tylenol since the doctor said today that young kids shouldn’t take Motrin for prolonged periods of time.
Her cold virus is still in full force as well which causes her endless green boogers, coughing which leads to choking and puking as well as general cold-related discomfort. She has literally puked once a day for the past EIGHT days!
And today was the FOURTH doctor visit and probably three of them were quite justified. We need to go back to see if the new drugs are working on Wednesday, so make that FIVE doctor visits.
One good thing about today is that her appetite seems to be coming back. We were worried because she was losing weight.
On top of everything else, her two top front teeth seem to be close to cutting through.
The doctor today was quite surprised with how happy she was considering her current state. I think that says a lot for her demeanor.
I thought for sure we would all be healthy and recovered by now, but Andy and I still have lingering colds as well. Mine has turned into that tickle in your throat that often leads to coughing fits. Lovely.
And so we continue…hoping time will cure and in the meantime, trying to be as comfortable as possible.
Not entirely meaning to, I have taken an entire week off of running. I will be back at the gym tomorrow.
Honestly, life with a sick kid is no fun. I feel like all we do is work, take care of the baby and get any amount of sleep we can. It is becoming monotonous very fast. In fact, I think last time I spoke of this topic, it was already monotonous!
My friends from Mexico are recommending that we explore various hot/cold remedies. A coworker in Brazil said to try garlic, tea and citrus. I am not sure how the baby will react to any of these things, but I am close to giving up on modern medicine and giving these other things a try.
No need to remind you that patience is not my virtue…especially when dealing with our baby being sick.
