For the story of our trip down to Puerto Vallarta, like a publicly traded company, we are going to let the numbers do the talking.
11 – number of hours Belén normally sleeps a night
7 – number of hours Belén slept on Friday night
7 – number of hours Andy and I normally sleep per night
4 - number of hours Andy and I slept on Friday night
3:45 – (am) the time Andy and I’s alarm were set
4:30 - (am) the time we woke up Belén
1.5 – number of hours stuck on a grounded plane with maintenance problems in Boise
2 – number of times my name was called over the loudspeaker and I was unavailable. The first time was in the Boise airport when Belén and I were waiting in line at the Moxie Java. The second time was when I was doing my business on the plane with maintenance problems and therefore could not quickly exit the plane. We were being called to switch planes to get us to San Francisco quicker than waiting for our current plane to be fixed.
20 – number of minutes to switch flights and concourses in San Francisco due to our grounded plane in Boise. Can you say RUN. with a BABY. and a STROLLER?
1 – class on the flight to Puerto Vallarta. They did not think we were going to make the flight so they gave our seats away. When we showed up, the guy looked really surprised and gave us seats 1C and 1D.
3 – number of diapers changed on planes…two were poopy, one of which was on the small plane from BOI to SFO and had to be changed at our seats.
10 – number of people in first class from SFO to Puerto Vallarta who were probably really pissed they paid good money for their seats and had to sit near a baby who was what one might called pissed most of the flight. Despite all of our best efforts, she would not sleep and was not content.
26 – number of minutes B slept on the combined flights
30 - number of microseconds it took after the wheels touched down in Vallarta for Belén to FINALLY fall asleep
35 - number of minutes in immigration line (Vallarta is much more popular than we realized…especially for Canadians.)
38 - number of minutes in Puerto Vallarta before we had our first timeshare sales pitch
36 – number of minutes I was carrying a limp baby in a taxi and through our hotel lobby while Andy checked in
3 – number of real live tigers at our hotel
18 - number of cougars at our hotel (the kind who pray on young, handsome waiters and hotel staff)
2 – number of minutes it took me to realize despite the pain getting down here, being back in Mexico with our daughter was all worth it!
It is so amazing here and I do not think Andy nor I had any idea how much we missed it. We love the beach. We love Puerto Vallarta. And we love México! Even though it is quite a bit more challenging than when we were two, it is great to share this with Little B.
Belén is living up to her Mexico-inspired name and can suck on limes all day long. The locals are as amazed as we are at how much she loves límones.
Besos (kisses) from Los Hoobing!
