I have a confession to make. Today when you were waiting for me to extract your new “fairy princess” wings out of the bag they came in, I was not moving as quickly as I could have. It is true. As you anxiously willed their liberation, I was taking my time, watching your face lit with excitement and anticipation. It took everything you had to contain your desire to have the new wings in your hands and more importantly secured proudly to your back. Like usual, your face exposed your emotions and it was too cute not to stop and take the time to savor.

Anyway, so I lost faith in the organization system I adopted earlier in the year and am now going folder by folder looking for photos to be included in “Best of 2011,” “Belén Age 1 – 2,” “Belén Age 2 – 3,” and “Eloise Age 0 – 1.”  I am glad I took up the exercise because I have been finding some gems that had gone missing.  In fact, I found this photo taken on Eloise’s third day of life which I swear I have never seen.

Christmas Eve, an hour past Belén’s bedtime, I knelt next to her bed.  I finished the shortest book in her bookshelf, “Bubbles Bubbles float on top. Bubbles Bubbles pop pop pop…” a party favor from a little friend’s birthday party earlier in the year.  As the book closed she requested a song, like she does [...]

The YMCA Christmas Run is an absolutely great way to kick of the holiday season. Nothing beats catapulting into the holiday spirit while burning a few calories right along side some fun-loving fellow runners and walkers.

Andy took this photo at the hotel he was staying at in Guangzhou. They are getting closer, but China still doesn’t “get” Christmas.

Things really have gone relatively well though, especially considering Andy does the majority of the heavy lifting when he is in town. When he is gone, I realize all of these kid-related chores are not nearly as big of a deal as I make them out to be when he is doing them. Not to minimize what he constantly provides because it is A LOT but it is doable. You just have to be more organized and committed to being places on time’ish and such. It has been really nice that most people are out of the office this week so if I don’t make it into the office until oh you know, 9:35 am, it’s okay. I make up for it by the late nights I have been putting in anyway. Enough about that.

Do I indulge in a long, solo lunch? Drink wine? Go see The Help? Read? NAP!

I honestly don’t know what to do as it has been so long since I had a block of time like this.

Whatever it is I end up doing, it is going to be good! :)

Andy ended up having to make another trip to Guangzhou (pronounced Goo-ANG-joe) for work.  He volunteered to share his “communte” for this week’s Mini Adventure Monday.  I think the mini can be dropped on this occasion.     Where Are you Going Again? That is usually the response when I tell somebody that I am [...]
