Since even before she was born, the female caucus of the collective Hoobing and Sparrell families has been waiting for the year when Belén was old enough to sit through the Nutcracker. We speculated that three-and-a-half would be the right age as long as she could sit still for extended periods of time.
In preparation for the big day, Belén practiced all year long in front of the television. Since she can sit through a Disney movie we figured she could also sit through the Nutcracker. On Sunday afternoon, it was finally time to test the fruits of her training and attend the Nutcracker with her grandmas and aunties and me.
As you can she, she had a loving entourage.
We were all very eager to see how she would respond.
Once we made it through the initial song and the curtain opened, she was mesmerized until about 20 minutes before it ended when she became a little antsy. All and all she did really well and we all enjoyed the show immensely.
Belén’s new idol is the Sugar Plum Fairy and Nana even gave her a Sugar Plum Fairy Christmas ornament to commemorate the occasion.
