Healthy in a Hurry

Every time I go to San Francisco, if I can sneak away for whatever it is I am there for even 20 minutes, I make a beeline to the Williams-Sonoma store in Union Square.  As you know I am not even a big cooker or baker, but for whatever reason those four stories of all things culinary appeal to my senses. I enjoy every minute of my walk through the store gawking at miniature cupcake pans, gorgeous tablecloths and about 100,000 other offerings.

On my last visit to the Williams-Sonoma Mecca, amongst other things, I bought Andy a cookbook that seemed to fit our family well.  It is called Healthy in a Hurry.

We have a lot of cookbooks but I notice Andy has gravitated to this one a lot lately.  He typically prepares dinner but a couple of nights this past week, he returned home later than me so I opened the cookbook and prepared the meal.  Each time, it was easy and the result, delicious!

Today for lunch was the icing on the cake.  I followed the simple recipe for curried chicken-apple pitas and am now a huge fan of both this recipe and the entire book.  ”Simple, wholesome recipes for every meal of the day” with delectable choices such as salmon tacos with mango-avocado salsa, buckwheat-blueberry pancakes and spicy seafood stew with quinoa.

Anyway, I wanted to share this find for the other working parents out there because I know how hard it can be to get something healthy on the table quickly.  The best part of all is that as I was researching the cheapest place to purchase the book, I found that you can get it for $10 cheaper on amazon than at Williams-Sonoma (while the store is beautiful, it is definitely overpriced, as evidenced by this book.)  It has a different cover than the Williams-Sonoma version but it is the same book.

Happy (Healthy) Cooking in a Hurry!

Quick update.  My mother in-law just called and said that Costco has this cookbook for $18.99.  That is a great deal especially considering it is a hardback book with gorgeous photos of many of the meals printed on high quality paper!  Also, I am adding photos of the recipe options to answer some of your questions about what types of recipes it has.  Hope it helps!

This sounds right up my alley! Does the cookbook contain lots of vegetarian recipes?

Kristen, I just updated the post with a list of all of the recipes. There do seem to be quite a few vegetarian options especially for lunch and breakfast. Just reading the list of recipes makes me want to start cooking more often. Everything sounds so delicious! Thanks for your comment.
