Things really have gone relatively well though, especially considering Andy does the majority of the heavy lifting when he is in town. When he is gone, I realize all of these kid-related chores are not nearly as big of a deal as I make them out to be when he is doing them. Not to minimize what he constantly provides because it is A LOT but it is doable. You just have to be more organized and committed to being places on time’ish and such. It has been really nice that most people are out of the office this week so if I don’t make it into the office until oh you know, 9:35 am, it’s okay. I make up for it by the late nights I have been putting in anyway. Enough about that.
It was a big week for our girls this week with lots of changes and firsts. It all started last weekend when Eloise convinced me she was ready to try solid foods after grabbing for my food and drink for the 36th time. She is now becoming quite a pro at her single tablespoon of rice cereal mixed with breast milk (pictures to follow, they are still stuck on the camera.)
On top of that, Miss Eloise is now sitting up proficiently. Even though we had worked with her a bit on it and she was sitting up at home, I was still entirely surprised when I walked into daycare earlier this week and she was sitting there, on the carpet, by herself, chillin’ and SITTING UP.
Belén loves this chili recipe. I have now made two batches which I freeze part of and use for endless amounts of future protein-possessing lunches.
Tonight was the first night I let her feed the chili to herself. Usually I spoon-feed her.
The best part about beets (besides the nutritional benefits) is the pictures. They look like a baby version of CSI sans creepy bugs.
Belén is now accepting solid foods and even seems to like them.
We did it. We tried introducing solid foods. It wasn’t what I would call a success the first time around, but we gave it a go. Andy bought this rice cereal at the grocery store. My only specification was that it is not Gerber and ideally organic. I think I mentioned, I morally disagree with [...]
Belén has decided that biting me is the appropriate way to let me know when she is done feeding. Also, we are getting ready to introduce solids and in preparation purchased a baby food processor from Williams & Sonoma.
