Luckily I had helped her write down the items on her list so she could very carefully give it to Santa. Without getting too close she happily took a pinwheel in return and was quite anxious to exit the premises.
She crawled over and wanted to sit right on my lap, as I was pumping. The entire bed, heck the entire basement was her playground and she wants to sit right on me. I asked her if something scared her. She replied, “Yes, a ghost.”
This is where things get a little fuzzy. I asked her where the ghost was and what he looked like. The answers were a big inconsistent. First it was the window (which would totally make sense with a reflection) but then it was near the bedroom door. The ghost apparently was white but again, it is not clear. She still associates ghosts with Halloween and says that that is the time of year when they come out and yet now there has been two ghost spottings in our basement…both times in the basement…never upstairs.
All that is needed is a winter coat, a flashlight and a sense of adventure and a typically painful part of the evening suddenly becomes fun and something your child looks forward to. Try it! I was surprised how excited B was for her 20 minute backyard adventure.
At the moment, your favorite expressions are, “What are my options, Mommy?” and “all day long” as in “I want to watch Backyardigans all day long.” Your favorite meals are pizza and oatmeal with chocolate chips. Your favorite color changes daily but yesterday it was purple and pink. You will only wear dresses and now that it’s getting cold, you are a fan of tights. You are able to pull even your tights and panties down to go potty and poo poo by yourself. You love to go to the zoo and shop at Costco with dad. You could jump up and down all day long. Dancing is in your blood and you have amazed many onlookers by your unique, spontaneous dance moves. You love your grandmas. You have a least a dozen books memorized and you love to read. Your little sister is enamoured by you and is captivated by everything you do. Gracyn is your best friend. Your favorite part of the day is when mommy picks you up from school and you still come running the minute you see me.
It was a big week for our girls this week with lots of changes and firsts. It all started last weekend when Eloise convinced me she was ready to try solid foods after grabbing for my food and drink for the 36th time. She is now becoming quite a pro at her single tablespoon of rice cereal mixed with breast milk (pictures to follow, they are still stuck on the camera.)
On top of that, Miss Eloise is now sitting up proficiently. Even though we had worked with her a bit on it and she was sitting up at home, I was still entirely surprised when I walked into daycare earlier this week and she was sitting there, on the carpet, by herself, chillin’ and SITTING UP.
After three flights and approximately 20 hours of travel, Belén was thrilled to arrive in the Zurich airport. This is her stretching her legs in an empty baggage claim area while we waited for Andy to exchange some money.
I thought all of the photos I had been uploading to posterous via Instagram were uploading to the blog but they were not. I will be sending them manually as we have wifi access. This is a photo of Belén playing with the bunnies in a fountain during a brief walk through the beautiful Konstanz, Germany [...]
Despite wanting my child to be able to articulate words correctly, it makes me sad to share that she is starting to say Birthday correctly and her “‘Happy Derday”‘ days are almost over.
When I was sick last week, moments after I had finished puking, Belén walked over to me, put the Pooh Bear birthday hat on my head left over from her one-year-old birthday and sang me “Happy Derday.” I don’t think I will forget the sweetness of that moment as long as I live.
