Imagine for a minute the differences we would see in the world if each person kept whichever version of the Golden Rule they most appreciate at the forefront of their minds and actions.

I have never claimed I am not all over the map in things that interest me, which is why it should come of little surprise that I have just spent an entire hour listening to a opera singer by the name of Joan Sutherland on youtube and iTunes.  I heard a story on her on [...]

In good cash flow management fashion, we are going to save for at least the Kitchen Helper (I have talked Andy into that one), but we are still working on the lounge chair.

Really, these are must have’s, right?

Until I figure out my stance on this, I think we will stick with (the young version of) Dora.

Um, I don’t even know what to say about this display? Is it a “Whose Got The Coolest Knickknack” Contest? And why do half of the entries have a blue ribbon. I thought only one entry won the blue ribbon? Maybe fair contests are like little kid contests where everybody wins?

If you have not heard NPR’s Story Corps yet you are missing out.  Basically NPR traveled throughout the country stopping in cities and towns everywhere inviting people to come in and record their stories in their mobile recording studio.  I really wish they would have done it a year or so earlier because I would [...]

Here’s a tip (and a huge generalization). If you are at a Farmer’s Market and there happens to be a stand with Mennonite women selling pies, BUY TWO. If anyone has pie-making down, it is the Mennonites, at least in our community. Maybe instead of serving coffee and donuts after church they serve pie and tea…or maybe pie making is something they teach women in the Mennonite version of Sunday school…or maybe I should just be quiet since I really know nothing about the Mennonite religion and my only exposure to Mennonites has been at the pie stand and once when driving to McCall and the driver of a minivan fell asleep and drove off the road in front of us. We stopped to make sure everyone was okay and all of the passengers in the van were wearing the little hats on their head which led me to believe they were Mennonites. Yes, I should definitely be quiet.

I wondered if the bugs were on red alert and there was some sort of alarm going off at a decibel only they can hear warning one another to evacuate. I was taking their weed habitat like the miners tried to take Hometree in the movie Avatar. What an awful person I was to weed my garden!

Being that it’s a Monday morning after a jam-packed weekend that left us exhausted and wanting more, I thought it might be appropriate to visit the topic of what motivates us. This is very applicable to a work-environment but applies to everything in our lives. Here’s a hint, it’s probably not what you think it is.

I love that even though I am not incredibly sentimental, I am not all that into music and I am not even a big fan of the romance movie genre, this song just totally does it for me. It takes me to some sentimental place and makes me happy.
