One night last week when we were out and about, we all found ourselves a little bit hungry so we stopped at a local Mexican restaurant. Belén was past her bedtime and restless which led to her running like a crazy woman around said restaurant (yes, we were those parents!) I finally caught her and attempted to entertain her by taking pictures of “daddy” with my iPhone. She actually took this picture.
It didn’t take long after Belén had woken up from her nap for Tamara to earn her trust. Soon after that Belén began posing… Girly girl, I am telling you!
Andy and I have tried for 14 months to capture her essence and our friend Tamara was able to do it in literally ten minutes while I was off talking with a couple of friends. Tamara has just made photography her full-time gig. I think she is going to do quite well for herself!’

After twelve hours of photography instruction and 38 pages of notes, I decided to put what I had learned into practice. It was a perfectly overcast evening and Andy actually started the session by snapping a few shots of Belén and I playing outside with the cat.
It has been a heck of a year. 2009 started with wedding festivities for my sister, Anna and her now husband, Derik. On April 28, 2009, Belén Rose entered our lives and changed them forever! I cannot believe so much wonderful change can happen in one year.
The problem now is that I feel like I cannot move forward with any photo editing because there is too much to learn and I know NOTHING. I thought I knew more before I bought this book. And Andy is sick on the couch with a nasty head cold so I don’t want to bug him with questions.
We introduced potatoes to her diet earlier this week and it just so happens they were on the menu again tonight. Meal choices certainly are repetitive when you have less then ten possible meals to choose from.
For one, we have a lifetime of photos to take of Belén and theoretical child number two. We love to travel which compounds the need for good photos. Finally, I am investing more and more time and effort into this blog and what I have found in all of the other blogs I read is some pretty amazing photography. So, lets call it day zero of Alecia learning how to be a better photographer. I took these photos of Belén eating yesterday. My lesson of the day (from Andy) was how to adjust the flash to get the desired amount of light.
We spent the morning in the best palapa in the world which Andy is now dubbing “the love shack”. After a short nap, I hung out with Anna and then Vicky in the pool and Sereana, our daily pool bartender made me another of her signature fruit smoothies.
